January update: 34 cats entered our traps. Most met criteria for return to their colonies after spay/neuter; eight were deemed adoptable by us or Lollypop Farm and went the adoption route.
On to February……Sunday Feb 5th was a big day for us! After a year of legwork, 15 cats were fixed at our first monthly spay/neuter clinic for free-roaming felines in the city. Many thanks to Rochester Animal Services for providing the OR and critical supplies and to Dr. Christine Garvey, vet techs Ariel and Marisa, and our dedicated volunteers. We know for many of these cats this may be the only time they ever receive vet care, so while still sedated, they had some spa treatments including a good brushing and ear cleaning. Although trapping day was a cold one, it was smooth sailing with nice weather for returning cats. Thanks to 19th Ward Community Cats and Kids Art Supporting Animals for cheering us on and providing additional help! @vsas_ras@lollypopfarm@kids_art_supporting_animals@wildheartsveterinary
