A long delay in posting but this is only because we’ve been so busy. We hope your holiday was lovely and relaxing and that 2023 is off to a good start!
The last week of 2022 was a break from trapping but brought us several friendly abandoned adult cats followed by two abandoned kittens on New Year’s Eve. One of our colony feeders found the kittens in a plastic bin on a sidewalk, brought these cold, damp beauties to us, and a few days later they were taken in by Kitten Korner (@kittenkornerrescue). The friendly adults are still being assessed and will be up for adoption soon. Total number of cats we helped in November/December — 58. Total for 2022, more than 400 – exact math pending….
We’ve been working on a large colony in the 14605 zip code where, since late November, 21 cats were spayed or neutered. Twelve were returned to the two caretakers along with insulated shelters. We’re happier to report that the other nine were adopted out through Rochester Animal Services (@vsas_ras), Lollypop Farm (@lollypopfarm), and 9 Lives Cat Lounge in Chili. Truly a group effort and we are very grateful for the help. We do our best to assess temperament during their brief time with us as we all know that many of the cats trapped outside don’t belong outside. Thank you for your ongoing support as we enter our 2nd year helping Rochester’s cats.
